Bad Snacks walks through two quick but essential steps in Ableton's Drum Rack workflow: swapping out individual samples and setting up a loop. Both are simple actions that open up a lot of creative flexibility as you build a beat.
Replacing a sample is as direct as it sounds. Search for a sound in the browser, drag it onto the cell, and the original sample is replaced. The snare swap shown here illustrates how every pad in the rack can be treated as a variable, making the whole kit customizable as your pattern develops.
Looping the pattern is handled through the loop bracket in the clip view. You can drag it to cover exactly the section you want, shorten or extend it freely, then activate it with the loop button or Command+L. From that point, the pattern plays continuously as a foundation to build on.
