This Ableton Learn Live walkthrough covers the Particle Forces tab in Vector Grain, the granular sampler introduced in Live 11. The tab houses three controls that shape how particles move through the device's 2D system: Attractor, Strength, and Magnetism.
The Attractor is a central point that pulls or pushes particles depending on the Strength value. Positive values attract particles toward it; negative values repel them. Particles are color-coded by charge, blue for positive and yellow for negative, and you can set the Attractor to act on one charge, the other, or both.
Magnetism controls whether oppositely charged particles attract or repel each other. At its center position it has no effect, and moving it in either direction shifts the relationship between particle types.
Because these controls operate inside a dynamic 2D system, they are interdependent. A small adjustment to one parameter can produce outsized changes elsewhere, so the recommended approach is to work in small increments and observe how the particle behavior shifts across the whole system.
