Tree Tone's Noise exciter section is demonstrated in this walkthrough from Ableton's Learn Live series, showing how the filtered White Noise Oscillator feeds into the device's resonator branches and how each control shapes the resulting ambient texture.
The Thru knob routes noise directly to the output, bypassing the resonators entirely, which reveals how much the tree's branching structure contributes to the sound. Filter center frequency and Bandwidth then let you dial in which part of the noise spectrum gets through, from a narrow band to a wide wash.
The Wind parameter randomizes frequency, bandwidth, and volume over time, with Speed controlling how fast that modulation moves. Routed through the resonators rather than Thru, Wind produces an evolving, organic texture that shifts continuously without repeating.
Switching between White and Pink Noise at the top of the interface changes the overall character, with Pink Noise producing a warmer, more muted tone. The resonator algorithm blend on the upper left adds another layer of tonal control, moving between a softer, rounder sound and a brighter, slightly harsher one.
