This Logic Pro walkthrough from Mastering.com breaks down the ES2 synth's two-filter section, showing how blending, layering, and shaping cutoff and resonance can drastically change your patch's character.
Filter 1 offers low, high, peak, band reject, and band pass modes with cutoff, resonance, and drive. Filter 2 is a dedicated low pass with its own FM knob and fat 24/18/12dB slopes.
Route the two in series for a signal that passes through both filters sequentially, or in parallel to split and blend the signal, similar to Alchemy's routing options. Each approach produces a distinctly different tone from the same source.
The output stage rounds things out with master volume, soft and hard distortion, and built-in chorus, flanger, and phaser modulation with adjustable intensity and speed. A dedicated sine layer lets you blend in extra low-end weight to taste, useful for beefing up basses and leads without reaching for another plugin.
