MusicTechHelpGuy breaks down the Marquee Tool in Logic Pro, one editing tool that handles selection, splitting, moving, and deletion all at once.
Drag over any section to select it, then click to separate it from the surrounding audio. Double-clicking splits at that exact point, no separate split command needed.
Once you've made a selection, drag it out to move it, or hold option to duplicate it in place. Turn off grid snap for freehand trimming when you need finer control than the grid allows.
Because selections can be deleted outright, the Marquee Tool doubles as a fast way to clean up recordings. Cut silence between guitar chords, or trim hum, hiss, and background noise from the heads and tails of vocal takes, often faster than using the dedicated trim tool.
