Ocean drags a drum break loop straight onto the Logic Pro timeline, showing how it auto-snaps to tempo and creates its own audio track. From there he shapes it to sit with the rest of the beat.
With Logic's stock EQ, he cuts the low end out of the loop so it stops fighting with the kick drum, using the low frequencies on the left of the display and highs on the right as a guide.
Smack Attack (Waves) tightens the loop's transients, pulling back what sounds like built-in reverb so the hit reads as sharper and snappier alongside the other drums.
He layers in tambourine, shaker, and ride, panning them slightly left or right so the elements aren't all stacked in the center. Spreading percussion across the stereo field is a quick way to make a drum arrangement feel wider without adding anything new.
