Ableton's Delay device packs three controls that shape how repeats move and behave, covered here as a quick tour through its Modulation and Mode sections. Modulation lets you set a rate that animates either the filter's position or the speed of the repeats, giving otherwise static echoes a sense of drift and life.
The Mode section controls what happens the moment you change the delay time. Fade crossfades smoothly between the old and new delay times, while Jump snaps instantly to the new value, so the repeats suddenly shift rather than glide.
Ping Pong mode sends the repeats bouncing between the left and right channels, turning a mono-feeling delay into a wide, rhythmic stereo effect. Together these three controls turn a basic delay into a more dynamic, spatially interesting tool without needing extra plugins.
