Hold Option and Shift while duplicating a MIDI, Session Player, software instrument, or pattern region, and Logic creates an alias instead of a full copy. Aliases look independent but stay linked to the original.
Change one, like swapping a hi-hat for a ride cymbal, and every alias updates automatically, even ones placed elsewhere in the arrangement. Think of aliases as loops you can drag anywhere in the project.
This is useful when you want many repeated regions to update together instead of editing each one by hand. For simpler adjacent repeats, looping a region works similarly, and Control-L converts a loop back into an independent, editable region.
