This Learn Live walkthrough shows how Multi-Clip Editing in Ableton Live lets you work on up to eight MIDI clips at once, in either Session or Arrangement view, instead of jumping between tracks one at a time.
The mechanic is simple: select a clip, hold Shift to add more clips from other tracks, then use the Multi-Clip loop bar to choose which one you're actively drawing into. Every selected clip shows its notes, but only the active one takes new input from the Draw tool.
The first example uses this to build a second drum pattern while looking directly at an existing one, making it easy to see how a new part lines up against a reference beat instead of eyeballing it from memory.
The second example extends the same workflow to three tracks, selecting a kick pattern, an empty drum clip, and a bassline clip together so a new bassline can be drawn in exact rhythmic sync with the kick, all without leaving the multi-clip view.
