One practical fix: if the stereo output meter shows clipping during a take, that doesn't mean the actual recording is clipped. Check the channel's own input meter instead, since something like a metronome bleeding into your monitor mix can trigger false readings on the master bus.
Once takes are recorded, double-clicking the take folder opens it up so you can audition each pass, pick the best one, and compare waveforms side by side before committing.
