Real-time automation recording in Ableton Live captures every tiny move, which often leaves you with a messy envelope full of breakpoints. This quick tip from the Learn Live series shows two ways to clean that up directly in Arrangement View.
Right-click the selected breakpoints and choose Simplify Envelope to cut down the clutter while keeping the shape of your automation intact, making it far easier to tweak later. This is especially useful after recording fader moves or filter sweeps by hand.
When you need a specific number rather than an eyeballed curve, hover over a single breakpoint, right-click, and select Edit Value to type in the exact parameter setting. Combining both moves gives you automation that is clean to look at and precise to control.
