To thicken the part, he duplicates the MIDI with Command+D and swaps in a different sound, layering two tones under the same melody for more depth.
Finally, he groups the related tracks into a track stack (Command-click to select, then Create Track Stack), so a shared chain of delay, sidechain compression, and reverb hits every layer at once instead of being set individually per track.
